City League Sports is a corporate 15 aside Rugby Union tournament that includes teams such as City Group, Linklaters, Norton Rose, Morgan Stanley, Deloittes, Lloyd’s Insurance, JP Morgan, Herbert Smith, Hogan Lovell’s, Goldman Sachs, Ernst & Young, BNP Paribas, BP Freshfields, Allen & Overy and IMS.
Each team receives
- A minimum of 5 games
- High level London society or national league referees for every game
- Free entry to the City League 10s in August
- Bar tab of circ £200 per game (this varies slightly with venue)
- Food after the match
- All organisation before each game reminding teams they are playing and where, fixtures and results service on the web site
- A weekly bulletin with info on the league and match reports
- UK Sports Club membership cards with genuine discounts such as Rugby Kit, food and drinks at clubs and pubs in London
- Free entry to networking events including NZ house penthouse with sports stars.
- Offers for discounted tickets to national and international events including tickets at Twickenham

History
The City League started in 1997 and has steadily expanded ever since and numbered 19 teams in the 200/11 season and will have more members next season.
The league is run for company teams so that everything they need is catered for and all they have to do it turn up. It was originally centred on the City but a new teams have been added from other industries e.g. media and engineering and next year we will be adding a team from the wine trade.
The games are played on floodlit pitches across London namely Charlton Park RFC, Blackheath RFC, Esher RFC and on occasion Richmond RFC though other pitches are always being considered and we hope to add Wimbledon RFC next year. The levels of play vary as one would expect from company teams and all skill levels from ex internationals to players who have never played before gracing the field. The top level however is of a London League 2 team, without the well rehearsed moves, and the bottom level probably about Surrey/Kent 1. The emphasis of the league is for fun and teams are encouraged to enjoy themselves with free food and a bar tab after each game and free social events take place throughout the year when opportunities arise.
